I've always known my Mom was a superhero who just never wore her cape. Over the past year she's only proven that to me over and over again. I'm ridiculously proud of her for stepping outside of her comfort zone and going back to school. As a mature student I'm sure it wasn't easy to get back into studying and homework after so many years out in the workforce. But when she announced to me her decision to go back to school I shared with her the wise words a grade school teacher had once said to my class. "Your education is the one thing that can't be taken from you". How true and how powerful that statement was.
A year of hard work and determination has paid off as Mom has given her valedictorian speech, walked across the stage, and received her certificate. She's now a graduate of the Continuing Care Assistant program and after she writes a provincial exam she'll be the best CCA around (If I may say so myself).
You're amazing Mom, I love you and I'm so happy that you took this opportunity for yourself!
Of course we had to make sure we gave mom the full grad experience which of course had to include a portrait session!
So my brother-in-law wasn't able to make it but we wanted him to be in the photos so we made a cardboard Jordan! Don't worry, he makes more appearances later. Cardboard Jordan had a lot of fun celebrating with us!
And to complete Mom's graduate experience we threw a party for her to celebrate her accomplishments surrounded by loved ones! So much love, food, and happiness that evening <3
